What We Do
Corfe Mullen Parish Council aims to represent the interests of the residents of the village as a whole and to preserve the environment for the enjoyment of the villagers, visitors and future generations. We offer a range of services and also work in partnership with other councils and organisations in the village.
The Council is always keen to ensure that its priorities and initiatives reflect the wishes of the electorate: all meetings are open to the public and councillors may be contacted if you have any ideas for Corfe Mullen or an issue which we can help with. Or pop in to the Help & Information Centre with your suggestions.
CURRENT SERVICES AND ACTIVITIES
Recreation Ground
The Parish Council part owns and part leases Corfe Mullen Recreation Ground, which is situated at the end of Badbury View opposite Pardys Hill. The Recreation Ground is now a massive 44 acres where you will find:
- The Sports Pavilion
- Toybox Playgroup
- Scout and Guide huts
- Football Pitches
- All weather, floodlit tennis courts
- Cricket pitches
- A brand new play area for children up to 13 years of age, including a toddler area
- A skatepark
- A basketball court
- A picnic area
- Beautiful walks with outstanding views.

The Parish Council maintains the Recreation Ground and all sporting events are organised by the Corfe Mullen Sports Association.

Springdale Road Open Space
For those residents in the south of the village the Parish Council also manages part of Springdale Road Open Space which again is a lovely area for walks, with or without a dog in tow.
Play Areas
As well as the excellent play area at the Recreation Ground the Parish Council also owns a toddler play area next to the Council offices off Towers Way and maintains the junior play area next to Henbury View First School.
Amenity Planting
The Parish Council looks after the planting and maintenance of both Windgreen and Cogdean Roundabouts. Windgreen Roundabout is planted and tended by Cllr Mrs Angela Williams and her husband on a voluntary basis. Naked Cross Nurseries planted and tend Cogdean Roundabout under a sponsorship arrangement.

Cemeteries
The Parish Council owns and manages both the old and the new cemetery and we are very proud to have one of the best kept cemeteries in Dorset.
Highways
The Parish Council provides and maintains some street lighting, usually where local residents have requested additional lighting over and above that provided by the County Council. Last year we added a new streetlight at Happy Bottom at the request of residents there.
The Parish Council provided the new village signs welcoming visitors to Corfe Mullen. The images on the Parish Council crest depict the old church, the old mill and a Roman soldier, which we think represents the tradition and history of the village rather well.
In addition we regularly pursue action from both the District and County Council on a range of issues of concern, such as litter, yellow lines, speeding traffic, highway improvements and maintenance, hedges and trees, footpaths and rights of way, etc.
Allotments
The Parish Council provides over 60 allotments to local residents.
Donations
The Parish Council is able to make a number of donations to local charities and organisations, or those working in the area. This has included such organisations as the Phelipps Charity, the Youth Centre, the Citizens Advice Bureau and the Dorset & Somerset Air Ambulance.
Paper Recycling
The Parish Council is fortunate to have an arrangement whereby it receives the proceeds of the paper recycling facility by the Library. After paying for the skips and for the removal of the paper, the Parish received over £3000 last year - this is used towards the Parish Council costs for the general benefit and therefore helps keep your parish precept down.
